"Harlequins of the World of Light"

08.09.2009

I want to remind the poodle community about the party colors that Ophelia Nikolaevna Yan received in Moscow in her time. These dogs in the early nineties even exhibited at the exhibitions of the poodle club Stolitsa and evoked constant interest among visitors. They came from planned mating, so they had pedigrees p-k "Capital". I will retell the history of these harlequins from the words of Ophelia Nikolaevna.

The first dogs: tomka Karambol Sigimur Eye of Light and pygmy Clement Sigimour Eye of Light originated from a pair
The father is silvery with a late-flowering Sigismund Aylont (white Aylont Grit, silver silver Silver Anastassy)
Mother - white with truffle skin Zibelin Blanche with Pruzhan (Father Arto Hitt, m. Desi Kuzkuzzain.

In this litter there were two already named spotted puppies and white Clementine Sigimour Eye of Light. Both Carambole and Clementius were distinguished by a perfectly correct arrangement of the spots. It is interesting that with age, these spots did not lighten up at all.

The second litter was born from
Father - white with distinctly truffle skin Hok Mai Day Migli (from the kennel L. Kizina)
Mother - Sunnani (Aigles Grazie with Pruzhan, m. Sibylla Aylont, silver with late-flowering sister Sigismunda Aylont).

In this litter there were three puppies: a black male, a white female Stella and a bitch-particolor with black spots of Sofiko. Unfortunately, we did not get puppies from Sofiko even once. White, with a fully pigmented skin, Stella twice knitted with Clement, but of the pups born in these litters, 8 turned black and only one bitch a particolor with gray spots. Two bitches from this parental pair - black Dakota and spotted Dominoes left for Cherepovets. Later, among the descendants of Domino, there were a few spotty puppies, but these were some males that were not used in breeding.

Unfortunately, there were no descendants from Carambol.

So, if we analyze the origin of these poodles, it becomes clear that the bearers of the spot were their white ancestors with truffle skin: Desi Kuskuzzain, Aylont Grit and Hock Mai Day Migley.
It is possible that if all these harlequins, as well as their monochrome littermates and descendants were in the same hands, and would not be scattered by individual lovers, they could become the ancestors of a good number of Russian Harlequins. But, to my great regret, then it was unreal.
